About the Top50 Professional & Career Women Awards

The ‘Top50’ Professional and Career Women Awards is WIM’s foremost annual event that recognizes and celebrates individual and corporate achievements of trailblazing women leaders in Sri Lanka. 2020 celebrates the 10th year of the awards since inception.

Nomination Requirements

Anyone may submit a nomination for the Top50 Awards with the candidate’s permission. Nominations must clearly document why the candidate should be considered, above all others, for this distinguished award. All nominations must contain sufficient information highlighting the individual and corporate achievements of individuals. Each nomination submitted must adhere to the following outline and page counts.

Eligibility

  • Nominee should be a Sri Lankan origin
  • Not an employee of WIM or a judge on the Awards Committee
  • If you are competing for the individual categories for career and business award, you must hold that position for no less than 36 months or you should be operating your business for at least 36 months. WIM does not have a financial interest in your business or organization
  • Not been involved in the judging of the Professional & Career Women Awards in the past three years
  • Past award winners can apply. But should not be an immediate winner of last year

Application Top Tips

  • Don’t fall back on clichés and tired story lines
  • Don’t undersell yourself, your business and your hard work
  • Give us the truth, not just the formula
  • You (the entrepreneur) are the hero/heroine of your story; tell us about your ingenuity, your insight Qualities that potential Award winners share
  • The Judges look for qualities that reflect the values of the Awards
  • A compelling vision that shapes what you do
  • Overcoming adversity with determination and creative problem solving
  • Championing the skills of relationship building and negotiation in business
  • Mentoring others to succeed
  • Giving back to your community
  • Challenging the notion that there is only one way of doing things

Description

Holding a job title, description or leadership position in any business sector – may it be private, government or non-government – are encouraged to apply for the categories below:

  1. Human Resources (includes HR, HRD and IR)
  2. Banking Industry ( Banking Professionals)
  3. Financial Services (Finance Professionals, Auditors, Insurance services stock brokers & leasing)
  4. Marketing & Advertising (Sales, Marketing, Customer care, PR & Advertising)
  5. Legal
  6. State & Government Sector
  7. Corporate Communication
  8. Media Electronic, Print and Digital
  9. Supply Chain & Logistic
  10. Travel & Tourism (Careers in Hotels, Restaurants, Guest Houses and etc.,)
  11. Arts & Creative Industry
  12. Science, Technology & Innovation Industry
  13. Defense Force and Civil Security
  14. Sports
  15. Career Achievements (Outstanding contribution to the community during Covid 19 to be recognized at National level)
  16. Educator (Educational Institutes, Schools, Universities etc.,)
Definition: Professional Category Awards

Corporates can nominate their top women leadership (Managing Director, Chief Executive officer, or Board Director) to the 1st, 2nd 3rd & 4th category only.

International category is open for Sri Lankans who are holding citizenships in other countries, and not eligible for 6th & 7th categories.

Definition: Business Awards Category

For the entrepreneur category, you will need to be operating your business for at least 12 months as of close of entries.

  1. Large Category – Number of Employees should be more than 200
  2. Medium Category – Number of Employees should be 75 – 150
  3. Small Category – Number of Employees should be 15 – 75

  3. Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur (Small)
  4. Upcoming Woman Entrepreneur (5 Awards) North, East, South, Western, Central

Organizational Category Awards

  1. Best private Sector Organization for promoting women in workplace
  2. Positive Media campaign on the empowerment of women
  3. Best CSR project on women empowerment by an organization
  4. Best NGO, INGO or Association on Women empowerment
